Winona Custody Contacts

For current Winona County jail custody, start with the Winona County Detention Center or the Sheriff's Office. Sheriff Ron Ganrude leads the Sheriff's Office. The sheriff's public counter is next to the jail on West Third Street, and the directory lists lobby hours as Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

If a record is not available on the roster, Winona County's Data Practices Policy is the public-records route. Written requests should identify that the request is made under Minnesota Statutes chapter 13, describe the data sought, and say whether inspection, copies, or both are requested. For jail, booking, arrest, warrant, or booking-photo records, route the request to the sheriff or jail records path when possible and cite Minnesota Statutes section 13.82 if law-enforcement data is involved.

• For someone in the county jail, use jail inmate records and call WCDC at 507-457-6503 if the roster does not answer the question.
• For booking photos, use jail roster mugshots and request the booking photograph under Minnesota public-data law when it is not posted online.
• For charges filed after an arrest, use court records after a jail arrest and search Minnesota Court Records Online or Winona County District Court.
• For facility-specific visiting, mail, and phone rules, use the Winona County Detention Center page linked in the footer.
• For a sentenced state prisoner, use the Minnesota Department of Corrections public locator, not the county roster.
• For federal custody, use the Federal Bureau of Prisons inmate locator. For immigration custody, use the ICE Online Detainee Locator System.
